My first wedding show over a year ago and I was nervous. I packed up my entire studio lounge space, headed for the venue and began making my little part of the show my own. Once I had it just the way I liked I just stood there looking out over the crowd of venders feeling like I was a speckle of dust. As I looked across the isle a tall, bubbly, girl stood. She had short dark and fashionably adorable hair and was dressed the way I wish I could get away with. As I watched her I thought to myself, "just go say hi and introduce yourself Lana." So I did! OMG! She was even more bubbly after I introduced myself and for some reason I felt an instant relief as we visited. She handed me her cards and I kept them safe and on hand for my next photo session. Shortly after it was time to get to know this cutie patootie again. She showed up just as she was the first time I saw her and she has been my studio makeup artist since ;)Over a year later she calls me for a portrait session of her own. Ashlee knew exactly when she called me the kind of portrait session she wanted. The hat was the focus prop. It didn't take her long to fall right into her playful, bubbly self as I just moved around her.I am honored and blessed to have a makeup artist that is so genuinely sincere, sweet, fun, and adorable inside and out. I first met Heather Valentine about a year and a half ago. She walked through Voulez Vous Boudoir's studio doors and she was wearing a huge grin with perfect dipples and bright hazel eyes and was bubbly, funny, and dressed like a little doll. Valentines Day Portraits, a Gift to the Future from the Here and Now. I am so grateful to my clients! I met Rebekah just a few weeks before Valentines Day and I instantly just loved her. Her energy, excitement, and sweetness shined. She wanted portraits to give to her husband for Valentines to celebrate three years of marriage and her birthday. During her consultation we talked about wardrobe, backdrops, hair and makeup and how to prepare.As I say to the girls, "plan a night out with your man because you are going to look and feel so sexy and beautiful." The next morning I got a text from Rebekah saying, "I'm so excited!!! We had an amazing night last night, just like you said!!"Rebekah and I had something else in common...we both loved a particular image by Pamela Hanson that we had seen in a local restaurant. All year these two young ladies look forward to the one night they will play dress-up and make-believe they live in a fairy tale wonderland. They plan and prepare throughout the year and their mom begins sizing, pinning, and sewing. Since babies Mom has made sure this was a big night for the girls. The night arrives and they begin the transformation; hair and makeup then they slip into their costumes and as they do I can see Mom gleaming with joy and excitement. Can you image working so hard throughout the year then the time has arrived you see and experience what you have worked so hard to achieve. The Princess of the Sea and the Peacock have come into full bloom.This was a night I will always recall to memory. As I watched Mom's face it reminded me of why I love what I do, making and giving a gift of memories from the here and now to the future. One day these portraits will line the walls of these little girls and they will show their children of what Halloween meant to them as a child.Thank you Reagan for trusting in me to capture this priceless time in your families life. Using Portraits To Tell A Story. I have had a bit of writer's block lately and I'm finding it hard to put into words exactly how I feel. When I was 18 years old I kept a scrapbook of poems that meant something to me and I recently revisited that book. Along with the poems I had put images of rainy days, storms, sunshine, mountains, oceans, flowers, people, and things that touched me about the poems.These portraits make me feel lonely, sad, and bewildered.
